Emily, the new number 1 in the England Squash Rankings Under 9s, takes the title of Oxfordshire County Champion in the older age group, Girls Under 11s.

On the weekend of the 25th and 26th September 2016 the Oxfordshire County Championships took place at Abingdon Squash Club where talented juniors across the whole of Oxfordshire competed for their places in the Oxfordshire County Squad in their age group.

Emily Coulcher-Porter, aged only 8 years old, sits at number 16 in the England Squash Rankings in the girls under 11. Already achieving the number 1 spot in England in the girls under 9s, Emily hopes to excel in squash even further and is a brilliant prospect for the game.

Emily competed for her place in the under 11 girl’s county squad and proved to be far too strong for her fellow competitors. Not only did she take the title of Oxfordshire County Champion, but did so without dropping a single game throughout the whole tournament.

Alongside Emily, her older brother Oliver Coulcher-Porter also competed in the County Championships in the boys under 11s, who currently has an England Squash Ranking of 7 in the under 11s. Like Emily, Oliver proved to possess too much skill and talent for his opponents to handle, ultimately leading to taking the Oxfordshire County Championships under 11s title.

Both Emily and Oliver train regularly at Racquets Fitness Centre in Thame, where they have a few coaches in their corner that are extremely supporting and helping them achieve their full potential. Ben Hedger, Level 1 squash coach and aspiring professional, who also won the Oxfordshire County Championships under 19s and who has been coaching Emily and Oliver recently says, “I am so proud of Emily and Oliver in their achievements that weekend, especially Emily who has really come into her own recently and is improving her game at a rapid rate. She is always keen to learn and improve which is fantastic at such a young age.”
