  • Oliver ranks Under 11 top 10 in England

Oliver Coulcher-Porter’s recent wins in the tournaments around the South of England have allowed him to achieve one of his short term goals.

In the England Squash Rankings out today he is now number 8 in the UK Under 11 boys.

    What a fantastic achievement.

    Oliver new ranking August 2016

Oliver, who plays and trains at Racquets Fitness Centre in Thame, has been playing for 2 years and has already grasped how much practice and dedication it takes to make it in sport.  Sue Martin-Downhill, coach at Racquets, said ‘Oliver is still quite small for his age, so a UK ranking of 8 at this point is really quite an achievement.  Oliver’s squash skills are developing quickly and as he grows he will become a formidable player in all age groups.’  Oliver has already achieved a ranking of 48 in the Under 13s.  The Under 13 boys tend to be very strong already and Oliver shows great determination when playing against these more grown boys.

Luke Hayes has also achieved a ranking of 106 in the Under 11s after playing squash for only a year.

Oliver’s sister Emily is showing the same dedication to and understanding of sport.  Emily is already ranked 20 in the Under 11s girls.  Sue Martin-Downhill said ‘Emily is determined to achieve even more than Oliver.  She has started playing seriously this year and in girls sport I can see Emily leading the Under 11s pack by the age of 10.’  Emily is currently just 8 years old.

Racquets has been producing top class squash and racketball players for the past 40 years.  Squash is a sport where determination can get you a very long way.  If you haven’t found your sport yet – you might prefer indoors, you might prefer individual sports, you’d like a sport which you can play at any time of the day – then squash might be for you.  Come on down to Racquets between 10am and 12noon every day (apart from Sunday) and we can introduce you to the game.
